The Company was founded in August 2009 by Yossi Katzav.
Yossi Katzav, a Shenkar College graduate had completed his studies with honors in 1998. He had already been working as a fashion designer for CASTRO during his studies. Two years later Yossi was appointed as the director designer and in charge of a new brand by the name of Castro-Men, which in 2000 became a huge success and has had a great influence on men’s wear fashion in Israel.
In 2003, Yossi moved to New York. There he worked for two years in the men’s division as director designer at DNKY. After returning to Israel he worked as the menswear director designer for FOX.
In 2009, following many years of designing for big brands, Yossi decided to establish his own brand – SKETCH to fulfill a dream.
Yossi is known for being one of the most influential designers in Israel and during his career won several titles. Recently he won the title “Designer of the year 2013″ in Holon Fashion Awards week.
In August 2015, SKETCH launched “SKETCH Women” as a natural evolution in the company’s growth.
The Company’s Spirit
The company’s spirit is affected by the link between the fashion and art worlds throughout history and up to contemporary art. Painters, sculptors, video-artists, different streams, and art groups throughout history serve as a particular inspiration to the brand, and predominately in the design process.
SKETCH, collaborates with young artists from inland and abroad. The company aims to support and encourage contemporary Israeli art. Cooperation between young artists and SKETCH is maintained on a regular basis, from art prints on T-shirts, to work on seasonal catalogues, alongside turning the SKETCH stores into a gallery and a platform for changing artists.
The customer of SKETCH is defined as a universal type somewhere around the ages of 23 – 45. Our customer values quality clothing which is classic, unique, and well-cut. Our customer appreciates a minimalistic design with attention to the fine and small details, creating a sense of intimacy between customer and clothing.
The customer is of an average and higher socio-economic milieu with fondness of art, culture, and music. She or he is looking for clothing which will accentuate their personality without displaying passing trends.
The collection is based on classic clothing items which are the basis of the wearers’ wardrobe throughout the 20th century and up to present. Changes and innovations in design with emphasis on high quality and finishing touches make the SKETCH clients wardrobe essential items of the 21st century.
The collection planning, fashion design, textiles and graphics are made in Israel. Collection development and production are done in Peru, Portugal, and Brazil in clothing factories that produce high quality for the world’s leading big brands. Production is in small quantities which gives a uniqueness and individuality to each and every item. Each piece of clothing stands out on its own and is harmoniously related to other pieces of clothing.
Fabrics used for the clothes are of top quality. Materials for sweaters are made of a mix of lattices and cashmere mohair, leather jackets are made of genuine leather of the best quality. Shirts and T-Shirt are made of 100% Pima cotton from Peru. Pants are made of fabric with wool, cloth shirts are sewn from 100% cotton with a quality140/140 with a smooth and pleasant texture.
